A silly story….

When our grand daughter Madi was 7, Huhoney and I took a trip to Maryland to babysit while her mommy and daddy went on a cruise.  So we decided to take a trip to Virginia and a historic town, we knew it was a 4 hour trip each way but we were up to the beautiful scenic drive.  I decided in order to keep this 7 year old entertained I would make up a story along the way, using a note pad, pencil, and lots of imagination.  The only rule was, we had to use the alphabet, and we couldn’t  skip around the alphabet it had to be done in order.  We could use any road sign or billboard we saw.  This is what we came up with, and a few of you may find it amusing because you may recognize some words.

(A)-Auto, air  (B)-barber, Bud’s creek, Bowling, (C)-city, Capt. Billy’s, Crab, Cakes (D)-detour, (E)-education, (F)-friendship, fairgournd, (G)-green, golf, gateway, (H)-Hamilton, Horne’s, (I)-ice, (J)-jewlers, (K)-kisses, koolaid, (L)-Lorendo’s, land, (M)-moose, miles, (N)-not, next, (O)-old, off, (P)-Popey’s, playmate, point, (Q)-quality, (R)-rips, (S)-speed, sale, stagecoach, south, side, sheriff, (T)-town, twizzlers, thunderbird, Tarzan (U)-unusual, (V)-Verizon, (W)-Waldorf, way warning, welcome, (X)-x-tra, Y-yield, (Z)-zebra.

Now that you have the alphabet and the words that were gathered along the way, and believe me…it took 4 hours to get all of these words, we would go miles and miles sometimes without seeing a billboard or sign and especially when the next letter was an X or Q!  Even Papa got involved and sometimes all 3 of us would shout out a word, hence the letters with more than one word….

Bare with me on this ok……….this is fun……………here is the story…

ROAD TRIP TO ADVENTURE (one silly story)

As we were driving along Poppy noticed the auto air on.  “Oh my goodness” said Poppy, “We have to go the BARBERbarber

  over at BUD’S Creek BOWLING,

bowling

but before we get to the CITY CAPTAIN Billy’s crab cakes are going to set us back to a DETOUR! detour sign  But don’t worry” said Poppy, “because we are getting an EDUCATION as soon as we go through the ENTRANCE.  I am sure we will see lot’s of FRIENDSHIP along the way, as we pass by the FAIRGROUNDS”.  We saw GREEN grass and people playing GOLF over by the GATEWAY.  Mr. HAMILTON had big HORN’S on his head.  We also saw ICE on the road.  The JEWELERS market had many rings Grammy wanted to buy, but Poppy said, “Grammy your KISSES lips  are as sweet as KOOL-AID so you don’t need any more rings until we reach LORENDO’S LAND.”  Madison said “look there is a MOOSE moose driving a car for MILES.  I think he is going to turn on the NEXT street NOT” she couldn’t believe her EYES!  “Oh your so OLD Poppy, you’re OFF to see the Wizard of Oz.”  Did you know that POPEY’S girlfriend Olive Oil was his PLAYMATE, even though that makes no POINT to this story.   You should also be aware that the QUALITY of this story RIPS through the SPEED of light and if we can find a SALE near a STAGECOACHstagecoach crossing we night end up SOUTH at the SIDE of a SHERIFF’S office in the town of TWIZZLERS near THUNDERBIRDS where TARZAN lives!  Did you know that unusually VERIZON sunsets are where the WALDORF WAY WARNING WELCOMES X-TRA yields of ZEBRAS?zebra

THE END (to this silly story)

have a fun safe weekend!

Fun change….

Well it was time….I decided as I was sitting in the salon chair chatting with my hair dresser that I need a change, nothing real drastic since I have a pretty good bald spot at the nap of my neck, like 4”square LOL, so I left it long enough to cover up the baldness…I don’t know if it will ever grow back..???oh well

there is some weird lumpy hair bump from fluffing going on on the right side picture on top of my head ???LOL

You may not see the difference but, WOW I don’t sweat as much at night! LOL  4 inches makes a huge difference in the time it takes to get ready for work in the morning….4 inches took 4 years off of my face (well 3 people said it did make me look younger hehehe)….4 inches means I can actually feel a difference and feel “fluffed” and not “flat”.  It was this length last summer so it is really not a big deal…I guess.  But now I can tell….I need to loose some weight, that is where you see it first…right? in the face!

Now…enough of meme’s

On the way home a couple of weeks ago from smooching Kinlee march 2010 misc 2 173 at the pool while the kids (son and wife and other grandchildren) were having family night swimming, this is the I am almost going to cry look….

I came across a sign….I had to slow down because…

April 068

It says, Washington Meadows…”A great place to call home”

April 064

I think these goats thought so too.  I think it was probably their home first until some ole contractor decided to build there…

April 063

They were enjoying some fresh greens from the bushes….

Until some ole lady (ME)  jumped out of her car and hustled them back around the fence where they belonged and wouldn’t get hit by passing cars……

April 066

It was getting dark…and on these country back roads people just go faster than they should…

April 074

Except me of course…  I haven’t seen them out since…maybe someone tattled on them being naughty…or the farmer fixed their escape route!

Did I share my rainbow pics when it rained last week?

rainbow 001

I pulled over to get this pic to see if I could find the end of the rainbow…it looked as if it was within driving distance :)

rainbow 003

Yep sure enough there it was…my pot of gold, just waiting for me to get out of the car, get soaking wet and muddy and walk into those horrible prickly bushes and mess up my fancy schmancie shoes.. Now why would “they” put the pot of gold over there?  “They” must have known my shoes and work clothes would melt if I got out of the car….

rainbow1 001

so I drove on..and guess what..that dang pot of gold MOVED to some other place over the valley! right over by my house! (on the right)

Then it was gone….just like that…..gone…..by the time I got home.

OH I didn’t show you, I am into making something new again..besides the hats, I am making this very “HOT” selling headband.  Some clever person made a ton of them up and sold them here in town at a local little shop, everyone seemed to have one except me so I decided to make my own…They sell like “hot cakes”, and I can make them fast!

Well looks like I got a couple weeks worth of posts in just one post…I didn’t think I had so much to say!  Gotta love this blog stuff! (sorry the quality of the pics is so awful..I took these pics with my little “cool pix” camera.  Until next time….KEEP SMILIN!

Cows and a Little Cowboy

Owen is such a little cowboy.  He love to be outside.  He loves his little farm and every and any little thing to do with it.  Cowboy boots are a HUGE part of his every day life.  He wears them everywhere….and if he could..he would wear them to bed.pics from home 001 I love to watch his little face light up when you talk about the cows and he can tell you stories….oh yeah….lots and lots of stories about his adventures in rustling the cows on his grandpas ranch and whenever there is a new birth…Owen makes sure that “Craig” knows about it so that it can get tagged.   (Owen age 2)

 march 2010 misc 2 064

This fence is what separates the cows from the Higgins back yard.  Owen doesn’t believe in separation…..

march 2010 misc 2 065

He thinks he is one with the cows…..or should be

march 2010 misc 2 059

Even a sweet face like this one…

march 2010 misc 2 068

So when a brand new baby was spotted lying down next to mama cow, Owen got real excited and wanted to go check it out…the baby got up real fast…see the new calf in the distance…

march 2010 misc 2 066

So off he went with his dad to check it out…the excitement was almost to much for him…

march 2010 misc 2 067

the closer they got…

march 2010 misc 2 069

Well the more spread out the cows became and the mama cow became more protective of her calf…

march 2010 misc 2 070

It was a long disappointed walk back for a “Little Cowboy” who was unable to get close…

march 2010 misc 2 073

Papa soon distracted him into rounding up the chickens and trying to get them back into the coop…

march 2010 misc 2 072

Owen is a great round-er-upper of chickens…me..not so good, I was told to move back and out of the way…I was interfering with the round-up!

march 2010 misc 2 071

Owen will be a great rancher and farmer when he grows up…oh wait a minute…

He already is…

This cowboy makes me smile….

He reminds me of a couple of other cowboys I know….

Special Sunday

Sunday was a special day for the Higgins family.  Our sweet precious new arrival (well sort of new arrival) Kinlee Linn Higgins was blessed by her father in our Sunday sacrament meeting.  You see in our church, worthy priesthood holders are invited to gather around an infant and in this circle they place hands upon each others shoulders and one under the baby.  The father (my son) a worthy priesthood holder pronounces a blessing upon his child and gives her a name which she will known as throughout her life here on this earth.  It is a very sweet and special time for a father and also those who come together in celebration of the birth of a new child.  April 10 105Brad, (my son) did a wonderful job in his blessing of his daughter.  It was emotional.  He is a kind man.  A good father, and a good husband.  I am proud of him.  I love him.  He was once my baby.  Even with my wonderful camera I could not capture the love and emotion through a picture.

April 10 053

this little stinker would not wake up so that I could take her picture!  I will have to go back and take other pics.  It will make her mad to have to get dressed up again LOL.  I just could not get the lighting right, no flash, then I used the flash then no overhead lighting then overhead lighting, shadows everywhere!  I just couldn’t get it right.  But…in the end, it didn’t matter.  She is beautiful in any kind of light!April 10 051

Look at those cubba wabba chunky monkey cheeks!  I could kiss them all day long!

April 10 094

AHHHH she does wake up….. only to eat again!  Sleep and eat….sleep and eat….that is all this baby wants to do!  Can you tell she is a healthy baby!

April 10 020

Saturday the day before her blessing day she anticipated having so many people want to smooch those adorable cheeks…..

April 10 027

Once in a while I could capture a teeny tiny little smirk…before…

April 10 030

A full out cry of PICK ME UP MOTHER AND GET THAT CAMERA OUT OF MY FACE OMA! hehehe

April 10 032

AHHHHH thank you mama….

Once again, thank you Brad and Tera for such a beautiful grand baby girl to spoil and show off and take millions of pictures of so that I can make my blogger friends crazy!

love and hugs….mom

Brooklyn Annice Lytle….6 yrs. and holding!

image

Yesterday my daughter had a hard time getting Brooklyn out of bed to go to school…

Daughter: Come on Brooklyn it is time to get up, today is your helper day at school and tomorrow is your birthday! (April 7th)

Brooklyn: You mean that today is the last day that I am 5?

Daughter: Yes Brookie today is the last day and tomorrow you will be 6!

Brooklyn: Uggghhhh (you know how 5 year olds can groan) Mommy this time has gone by way to fast! I want to be 5 for a little bit longer…….pics from home 653

This child is a very willful child. She has a very vivid imagination and loves to play by herself. Although she loves for you to play with her and play make believe she is very independent. She is much like her mother. Though her mother would never admit to it. But I know….because I am the mother of the daughter!

pics from home 404

Sunday will be her birthday party…..daughter (Natalie) said that they are having a petting animal party. Yes you heard me right…..A petting zoo on wheels is coming to the house, setting up camp in the back yard with about 30 different petting animals for all the little ones to play with, feed and pet.

Won’t that be fun to clean up after LOL! To be honest with you, I think my daughter has lost it. You know…”IT” went up and left after giving birth to one Brookie Cookie…..what most often said child wants…..said child gets. LOLIMG_0055

How can you refuse this face?  I can’t!1 brooklyn halloween 08

Watching this one grow has been so much fun…remember the saying what goes around…..comes around…..?   well……………

Brooklyn is such a little clone of her mother …and the scowl!  Wow she got that from her mama too!

As sweet as this face can be….there is a little stinker behind it!  But not today…I won’t show you that stinker today LOL…

Yes Brookie, the time has gone by much too fast…

Thank you Natalie for giving me such joy and such beautiful grand daughters. nat and brook april 09

I love you Brookie Cookie….hugs and kisses….Mema

Happy Birth-Day to you my sweet daughter.  My mother always called and congratulated me on my children’s birthday because she said as mothers we should be given the same celebration as the child……for giving birth to them, so again Happy Birth(ing) Day to you Natalie.

Cant wait to see you all this summer!July Annie w Nat and girls 005
