FOOD

OK...I am a lover of food! I love to eat and I love to try different recipes. I am not by any means a wonderful cook. I find it very challenging for 2 of us anymore. Once I find a great recipe my hubby loves I make it to death! I found a wonderful blog and new friend. You need to check out her blog. Don't you think 'girlfriends' are the BEST ever! A friend once told me that girlfriends are like handbags...you can't have enough of them, which is true...I love handbags! Anyway, I want you all to check out my new friend! A TASTE OF ALLISON. No pressure Allison! but your recipes really are wonderful. Keep up the good works and you will have a LOT OF HANDBAG girlfriends!

MY MONDAY THOUGHTS

Well, and that is a pretty deep subject....I finished most of my work at the office today so I am blogging! I found a great thought for today...

It takes a real storm in the average person's life to make him realize how much worrying he has done over the squalls.
Unknown

My hubby, who is such a smart guy, tells me all the time, "Not to sweat the small stuff". That is very difficult to me to do. I guess if I could go to bed at night and fall asleep in 5 minutes (like he does) and not stay up until midnight...and of course know that every little "thing" is taken care of that needs to be, I wouldn't CREATE storms out of squalls.

But I do

And always probably will.....

On another note: I copied this pic of my beautiful granddaughter Madison.
I can't tell you how much I miss my girls. Just look at the lighting in this pic, and it was probably just a random self pic, (she does that alot! lol) and for the record, Madison has the most beautiful hair, eyelashes (no mascara girls)and YES those lips, are her true color, NO lipsick ladies.... Natalie allows her to use MAYbe some lip gloss on them. Hey Madi girl....Grams loves you and misses you! (sigh)

"APPROACH TO LIFE"

I am a people watcher. I got this from my mother. It is a very interesting thing to do "people watch". You can find out a lot about a person and maybe how they APPROACH life in just the way they bowl. That's right. I said BOWL. I have been on a bowling league for several years. I am not by any means a "great" bowler, but I can hold my own once in a while. I thought it would be fun to document "the approach" and then . . . think about that person . . . and then put a twist on it and wonder if in life, they approach it as mentioned in their title.....see what you think . . .some of these folks are well into there 80th year of life. Then there are some that are youger than my own children! It was a lot of fun to do this post and even if it is "WAY OUT THERE", you just never know....there might be something to this!

"THE WALTZ" waltzing into life...

LAURA is 84 years young....I call this "EASY DOES IT" a very classy lady!

"SURE OF ONE SELF" young, good looking and....knows it!

"GOOFBALL JASON" everyone loves Jason, he loves having fun! avg. in the 200!

I took a dozen or more video's, some of which were hilarous. So...in case someone is people watching, watch out how your APPROACH IS in life, they just may be analyzing you to add you to their blog!

TODAY'S THOUGHT

A very wise man once said: It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels he is worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who made him.

Abraham Lincoln
Pretty smart man don't you think!

Monday's are usually busy for me here at work and today will be no exception. I love busy day's.....it fills the void.....makes me happy because I feel productive. It can be a MUNDANE MONDAY like last week (heaven forbid!) or MANIC MONDAY where you wish that it were still Sunday. But today.....I am ok with it being MONDAY because it brings me closer to Sunday! A day that I can not feel guilty for doing absolutely NOTHING! although I never do NOTHING on SUNDAY. I soaked up 40 minutes of sun yesterday and thought WOW this is great! But my pool isn't opened yet. I mean uncovered until we get the stupid heater working....Yeah folks, ya gotta heat it up initially cause the water is like maybe 50 degrees, just a little to cold for my old bones to jump into! I LIKE IT HOT!

"THOUGHTS" out of body

Well....once in awhile (I would love to blame it on the stars being out of alignment) or the cosmos out of wack or something like that and you know they probably aren't but Monday was . . . an out of kilter, out of sorts, out of body day for me...so my thoughts were not flowing like usual. I wanted to cry at the drop of a hat, and could of, even if there was NO HAT to drop, but I got through it. Have you ever told a man that your hormones were out of wack? Well try it on your boss some time. It is pretty funny actually. They give you this blank stare,

then they put their hands in the air like you are pointing a gun at them, they will tell you, it's O......K..... you can go home! IT IS MY perogative to have a weird freaky day!HMMMMM it worked....I went home.....and Monday passed, I am still here, the world DIDN'T come crashing down around me, the stars didn't fall from the heavens, NO HATS WERE dropped and even though I struggled NOT to cry (which would have felt pretty good)(but I am woman you know) Tuesday came...happy to say...so I will share some fun pics of a few precious moments past.

While Camille came down with the kids last week for a few days, they colored a lot of eggs, and colored a few fingers and hands.

(Papa found 5 in the bushes last night 7 days later!) they played hard, and after a busy day slept soundly, (there is nothing more precious than sleeping children!) they slept through the night...wow Lauren too! it is because she was sleeping with her "brudders" she said.
Poor Camille came down with a bug that put her right in bed, so Papa and I, along with Tera took the children to the "Pirates Island" for pizza, we all got in on the pirate hat thing. Owen was in charge of telling us when it was our turn to be seated...
Lauren went dressed as a "Princess Pirate" (who would have guessed?)

Even Papa got in on the fun of being a Pirate (for a minute)

It was hard to keep up with them after eating, they played in the play area, and Ryan was not happy when it was time to leave. But got over it quickly when we distracted him with something else. We had a great time while they were visiting on their short Spring Break. You all know by now how much I love my grandkids. To me, this is what it is all about. I know it is what keeps me grounded even when I am having a MUNDANE mun⋅dane  [muhn-deyn, muhn-deyn] –adjective
1. of or pertaining to this world or earth as contrasted with heaven; worldly; earthly: mundane affairs.
2. common; ordinary; banal; unimaginative.
3. of or pertaining to the world, universe, or earth.

MONDAY.

Need I say more?

HAS SPRING REALLY SPRUNG?

I took some pics of my yard the other day. I was overwhelmed with the color of the clear blue sky and calm breeze, and as I pulled up in the drive after a days work, I couldn't believe what had transpired, OVER NIGHT! I was sure the yard didn't look like this the day before....did it?

The lilacs were in bloom, the grass was really green, rose buds were appearing on all my rose bushes, the flowering plum tree had lost most of its beautiful pink blossoms and was coming into the dark beautiful purple leaves and I was taking in the powerful smell of lilacs when I stuck my nose into the blooms! Is Spring really here? Is the cold winter actually going to go away?

Can I think about laying out in the warmth of the St. George sun that it is so famous for . . . next to the pool in my SWEET back yard????

OH...and what is this? Just a sweet reminder that someone was thinking of me...little ole me... and wishing me a great day! Aren't sisters great! Not only sisters that are siblings...but "sisters".

Can I think about putting away my LONG winter pants and pull out the capri's and jeweled flip flops that have been screaming to me??? and paint my toe nails all pretty and shiney for all the world to see???? can I huh, can I????? (sigh)

YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! well after I go to the tanning salon a few times...I wouldn't want to make a TOTAL fool of myself and blind any poor unsuspecting soul, with my lilly white BOD!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

My thought for the week: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love... It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres."
1 Corinthians 13

BIRTHDAY BOY! My thoughts turn to the Birthday Boy BOB who had a big one last Saturday. He hates it, doesn't want to acknowledge it but knows that it came, passed and is now history! He isn't one that likes a lot of hoopla, and fuss. Never has and never will. A quiet time together, a movie,
dinner with Brad and his family at our favorite restaurant Samuri 21. Then home for a relaxing evening.

Camille and the kids came down Sunday afternoon and Bob barbequed his famous chicken. We had another great evening with everyone.
Brad made his famous cake (to die for)! and the kids helped Papa blow out the candles and lick the frosting off the candles. We had a wonderful evening. Camille and the TTC (triple trouble crew) will be staying for a few days this week. It is fun to have all the energy around us and believe me THERE IS A LOT OF ENERGY!

Koltyn loves to help load the dishwasher
Owen loves to jump into the picture when I asked Lauren to show me her pretty new princess PJ's, and jumped in when I asked Ryan to pose...he just loves to be in pictures!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!

WHO IS REALLY THE FOOL HERE?

I have been played a "fool", been a "fool" been "fooled" and "fooled" around! (with Bob of course)! but...found out lot's of interesting information about this day in history.

DID YOU KNOW: Aphrilophobia is the fear of April Fool's Day. Many of the phobias associated with this day are termed social phobias because they pertain to being embarrassed in public or worse.

Katagelophobia - Fear of Ridicule or Embarrassment
Neophobia - Fear of something new
Scopophobia - Fear of being stared at
Ereuthophobia - Fear of blushing
Mythophobia - Fear of making a false statement
Traumatophobia - Fear of being emotionally wounded or injured

and because I am a little Dutch girl (born in Rotterdam Holland) I thought this was also very interesting:

Here's a funny story why the Dutch celebrate April Fool's. Spain's King Philip II ruled the Netherlands back in 1572. Rebels opposed to his rule were called "Geuzen" after the a French word (Guex) that meant beggars. Den Briel (a small town on the coast) was seized by the Geuzens on April 1, 1572, beginning a civilian uprising against Spanish rule that spread throughout the Netherlands. Commander of the Spanish army was the Duke of Alba, and was powerless to stop the Geuzens. The Dutch word for glasses is "bril." And, apparently during this uprising, the Duke of Alba lost his glasses. Because the Dutch enjoy this silly mishap, they use it to commemorate April Fool's day.

hmm pretty deep huh! I looked up "April Fools" and found all kind of interesting things...I then read an e-pals post (Marcy) about her fool's jokes and found it all to be fun and made me giggle. A co-worker and I thought it would be a great laugh for all call in sick or something today....but who would be the fool in that case?
The boss would probably have called in too or better yet given us a pink slip...but HA he is being fooled at this very moment with his own pink slip! Yep I printed off an official looking parking ticket and filled it out with all sorts of FOOL-a-rottery and placed it on his windshield after he came back from lunch today. I am the one who will probably be a "fool" for doing so....but it brought some laughter to the office, which is soooo important on a Wednesday, don't you think?
