The making of a snowman

We went up North to visit the “little rascals” last weekend.  We took Kyler with us to visit his cousins.  Although it was quick we did enjoy it….except for the weather….

We woke up Saturday morning to this…a bit of snow coming down.

My son got up and immediately started a fire in his stove to warm up the house…this is not good I thought, not good at all….I was thinking, “OH DEAR, looks like we are in for the long haul, the weatherman said it was suppose to be in the 50’s and PARTLY CLOUDY!!!! HELLO???  Notice the “SPRING” sign… wishful thinking….

march 2010 misc 017

Within 30 minutes even the volunteer fire dept truck was left abandoned, apparently they knew what was coming even if the weatherman didn’t!

It didn’t take long for the “little rascals” to bundle up and show Oma what fun it can be….yeah right………I didn’t bring any snow clothes,

I got rid of them when I moved to the desert.

It didn’t take long for little missy in the cute green snow suit to abandon the boys, and for the boys to start a snowball fight, good thing I was in the kitchen looking out the window at them…they have a pretty good arm!march 2010 misc 036

After a little coaching on how to make a snowball and begin the rolling process for a snowman, (I did actually do this when I was little even though I hated snow)

march 2010 misc 046

The 2 cousins Owen and Kyler began the ball rolling…..

8 inches of snow fell in less than 6 hours

march 2010 misc 047

After several attempts of getting one ball on top of another and it falling apart….

The MASTER stepped in

roll…………roll…………………rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllll…

march 2010 misc 058

Until it is just the right size…………then you

march 2010 misc 063

Pat, pat, pat, pat, pat to make it nice and flat on top and pat, pat, pat the sides to make it nice and stuck together before adding another piece of the body…

march 2010 misc 076

Look for just the right twigs and weeds for the hair and arms….

march 2010 misc 071

Be sure you have it just right…give him some eyes from coal, a carrot for his nose and add a scarf and wha---la---

THE PERFECT SNOWMAN

Thanks Mikie, daddy and Uncle Mike for making such a fun snow day out of a what could have been a very dull Saturday!

march 2010 misc 088

Rosy cheeks warming up by the fire, warm hot chocolate waiting to sip on and a warm hug from OMA made this day a fun day.

I have never had the privilege if making a snowman. I have never stood in falling snow. I desperately want to make a snow angel.
That snowman looks exactly text-book perfect. Bet the kiddos had a ball.

Cheers - Joolz

Wow it seems so odd to me to see so much snow right now! It's been in the sixties and sunny here. They made a fabulous snowman, I wonder how long it took those cuties? I loved seeing the rosy cheeks!
Love Di ♥

Glad your cute grandkids had fun in that surprise snowfall, Linda. I enjoyed the snow here this winter, it was beautiful, but I hope there's no surprises waiting for me! Those grandkids really do look nice in their Sunday Best! Love the apples and the expression on your g/daughter's sweet face!

Oh Linda, I am on Cute Overload after seeing those precious Little Rascals! Up here in the Great White North (AKA Canada) we had only one snow dump and it didn't last long enough to make a snowball, let alone a Snowman.
On another note, you asked about my lovely job as a Nanny/PA, it came about through a friend with whom I worked, at a Medical Clinic. We kept in touch after I retired. A few days before she emailed me about a family that needed child care asap, I had made a heartfelt prayerto God, that, although I knew He ouldn't turn back time, I sorely missed the days of raising my 4 babies and I was longing to live that time again. The family and I connected, and lo, and behold, my prayer was answered...the boy's name was Bradley just as my grown boy, and the baby was a girl,so she was the sum of my girls. It was, and still is, a joy to be around the whole family. I still love my kids and they are around me a lot, but to have the privilege of having more children from a loving family, is such a gift from God, sometimes I can hardly believe my good fortune. This was not the first time a heartfelt prayer has been answered.
So, now you know if you have a need you can pray heartily for it, and God will answer your prayer in the best way, sometimes with minutes, sometimes longer, but prayers are answered.

Such fun pictures! Even if you lack snow clothes, a romp in the snow is always fun at least once a year!

Your grandchildren are adorable!

Hi Linda,
Except for the blonde hair, I think Lauren looks like you. What - you've given up on snow clothes??? How can you live in UT and not have snow clothes?? (It's been snowing here in Denver all day - we have a foot - GROAN. And I DO have snow clothes!) Maybe tomorrow I'll make a snowman - your Grands have inspired me. They are precious.

Snow clothes? What are snow clothes. I haven't worn snow clothes since I was a kid. Remember mom bundling me up in my ugly green snow suit and red rubber boots. Fighting with me to get those darned things over my shoes? Back then the snow was often up to our waists. Now, the snow is rarely over a foot after it builds up. Thanks for the story. It brought me back to some wonderful memories. Love you Lulu.

I bet you all had a blast, even though you used to hate snow!

Well, I wouldn't have been thrilled to see snow again either, especially if I wasn't dressed for it! But that did look like fun and they did a great job on the snowman!
Really cute post, Linda!
And your granddaughter looks EXACTLY like you, Linda! It's like she's a mini Linda! I love it! It's just the blond hair that throws me off a little, I feel like with your face she should have dark hair.
All such adorable children, Linda! You have a beautiful family and they have a beautiful mother/grandmother!

Love to you,
Eileen

I enjoyed reading about your snowday! What a great Dad those kiddies have. I hate the snow too and would stayed inside as well. Great pictures too!

They're cute rascals! I'm surprised that you hated the snow when you were little -not many little kids do!
We only taught our oldest how to make a snowman, and she taught the two who came after her!

I can't imagine, I can't even imagine having all that snow. I envy you all. We live in Calif and I've only seen snow a few times in my life.
