Behind

My goodness I am way behind in posting!  Not that I haven’t been reading everyone’s post, but I just haven’t gotten around to posting myself….so here’s for you Ryan!

While visiting up North for Ryan’s birthday party this was the happenings for the weekend.

Much preparation went into the little get together, Camille never does anything “small”.  Gotta love this girl!  Such a sweet mama.

The makings of Ryan’s BD cake which started on Friday and by the evening Camille had started frosting it.  “This is going to be a monster cake” she told me…so we left it and took off to Friday night ‘craft night’ which happens each and every Friday night…at Jessica’s.  I think 6 or 7 girls showed up.  They make all kinds of fun crafty things.  Everyone was doing Easter stuff.  We got home around midnight (and that is early folks) (I heard a couple of the girls stayed until after 3 am!) and Camille decided to finish the cake in the morning.

Mr. Monster cake didn’t stand like she wanted so he ended up just lying down….a one eyed 3 horned green colorful monster!   Ryan loved it!

You can’t go wrong making a monster cake… anything goes……

Time for Papa to help blow up balloons and put string on the balloons to hang from the ceiling.  Papa is a good helper…..

march 2010 misc 2 016

They were hung  with great care……..

march 2010 misc 2 023 and placed around the party table with perfection, there is NOTHING better than party balloons!

The guests arrived and the pizza party began for the children…while the adults had a scrumptious sloppy joe with the fixins!

One way to get children to eat a whole piece of pizza is to have them make their own….march 2010 misc 2 028  you just thaw Rhodes rolls and let them choose their toppings.  It was a huge hit!  Very clever idea isn’t it?!

march 2010 misc 2 032

smash it flat with your little hands and put whatever your little heart desires on the pizza and eat some pepperoni and olives while you are deciding…

march 2010 misc 2 031

Place all the little party pizza’s on a corn meal sprinkled baking pan and…….

march 2010 misc 2 037

in just a few minutes you have a perfect smiley face pizza man! ummm yum!

march 2010 misc 2 038

Now the best part of all is the look and anticipation of Ryan waiting for all the candles to be lit on his cake…

march 2010 misc 2 040

PHOOOOO….good job Ryan!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!

I love this little guy!

march 2010 misc 2 051

There is nothing better than a party to celebrate a special birthday boy!

Can you say……….. CHEEEZZZEE

It was fun to be in the company of family and friends…. Thanks Camille and Mike for a fun weekend of special memories to add to another chapter of my blessed life!

The making of a snowman

We went up North to visit the “little rascals” last weekend.  We took Kyler with us to visit his cousins.  Although it was quick we did enjoy it….except for the weather….

march 2010 misc 004

We woke up Saturday morning to this…a bit of snow coming down.

march 2010 misc 015

My son got up and immediately started a fire in his stove to warm up the house…this is not good I thought, not good at all….I was thinking, “OH DEAR, looks like we are in for the long haul, the weatherman said it was suppose to be in the 50’s and PARTLY CLOUDY!!!! HELLO???  Notice the “SPRING” sign… wishful thinking….

march 2010 misc 017

Within 30 minutes even the volunteer fire dept truck was left abandoned, apparently they knew what was coming even if the weatherman didn’t!

march 2010 misc 019

It didn’t take long for the “little rascals” to bundle up and show Oma what fun it can be….yeah right………I didn’t bring any snow clothes,

I got rid of them when I moved to the desert.

march 2010 misc 026

It didn’t take long for little missy in the cute green snow suit to abandon the boys, and for the boys to start a snowball fight, good thing I was in the kitchen looking out the window at them…they have a pretty good arm!march 2010 misc 036

After a little coaching on how to make a snowball and begin the rolling process for a snowman, (I did actually do this when I was little even though I hated snow)

march 2010 misc 046

The 2 cousins Owen and Kyler began the ball rolling…..

8 inches of snow fell in less than 6 hours

march 2010 misc 047

After several attempts of getting one ball on top of another and it falling apart….

march 2010 misc 048

The MASTER stepped in

roll…………roll…………………rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllll…

march 2010 misc 058

march 2010 misc 063

Pat, pat, pat, pat, pat to make it nice and flat on top and pat, pat, pat the sides to make it nice and stuck together before adding another piece of the body…

march 2010 misc 076

Look for just the right twigs and weeds for the hair and arms….

march 2010 misc 071

Be sure you have it just right…give him some eyes from coal, a carrot for his nose and add a scarf and wha---la---

THE PERFECT SNOWMAN

Thanks Mikie, daddy and Uncle Mike for making such a fun snow day out of a what could have been a very dull Saturday!

march 2010 misc 088

Rosy cheeks warming up by the fire, warm hot chocolate waiting to sip on and a warm hug from OMA made this day a fun day.

Bustin out ALL OVER…

It may not be June yet…but everything is busting out all over here in the desert!

I saw this amazing movie as a child.  It was a night out with my mother, girls night out, I remember her crying and me crying during the movie and I was soooo mesmerized by the dancing.  I knew I was going to grow up and be just like one of those dancers!  I can’t tell you how many times I have seen this movie and…

YES YOU ARE ALL SINGING AREN’T YOU!  Sweet SWEET memories!

We have forgotten what kind of tree we planted here just 4 years ago but it is a wonderful shade tree and it has the oddest branches, just before it comes into bloom before  the leaves, it has such strange looking pods and quirky shaped branches.linda feb 25 027

But when it does BUST OUT  we have amazing shade…

Forever Rainbows!

Are you always looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

Do you find when you get closer to the rainbow it just keeps getting farther away?

Well stop looking….it is probably right in your own back yard and has been this whole time!

My header pic was taken a year ago while on our way to see the “Little Rascals”.  Traveling down I-15 highway there is plenty of open space and some beautiful farm country.  I actually got this shot with my cell phone and these pics also with my cell phone.  Wow can you imagine what they would have looked like if I had my new camera!

Hope you are all having a wonderful March….2 of my grandsons were born on St. Patrick’s Day, both are 6 going on 7!

Although I am not Irish…..I still like being kissed!  I really don’t know why that has always been a saying but hey, I am game…kiss me anyway! LOL

Huhoney has always told our children that he is a Leprechaunimage and he has from midnight every March 17th until dawn to find his pot of gold.  We never actually see him  because he sprinkles gold sleepy dust on us so we sleep through the night so he can look without being found out.  If he doesn’t find it he stays human….if he finds it he can return to his Leprechaun land and be with others like him.

Needless to say…..he has never found his pot of gold….image

And when the grandchildren hear him tell his tale, they really think about it.  They don’t want him to find it either.

Our oldest granddaughter Madi actually got in trouble in school when at the tender age of 5 she announced to the class that her Poppy was a Leprechaun.  The teacher then told her there were no such things.  She was very upset and when she got home she cried and cried to her mother (my daughter) about Poppy not being a real Leprechaun.  My daughter immediately got on the phone and called us.  She told Huhoney to tell Madi the TRUTH.  Tell her he was always just telling a story and that he really wasn’t.  So Huhoney said, “give Madi the phone”.

Guess what he told her…….LOL your right…..he told her that her teacher didn’t know what she was talking about because she NEVER had met a real live Leprechaun.  He was a REAL LIVE LEPRECHAUN and if she wanted to talk to him she could call him and he would straighten it out.

Needless to say, my daughter WAS NOT HAPPY WITH HIM but she did not dispute his claim.

The teacher never called.

To sure the deal, he sent her a gold coin.  A real gold coin.

Now tell me…………….Huhoney really is a Leprechaun right?

Hey I believe him!
